» Gravestone of William Reynolds VC Published 04/26/2007

The gravestone of William Reynolds VC was placed on the back of a vehicle raised so that all could see it, with 4 Guardsmen in red Tunics and a Company Sergeant Major (click here for large photo). The service was at 1530hrs on Wednesday in Edinburgh Castle. The service was taken by The Rev Angus Smith who was our minister in the Falklands and then the Gravestone was marched out of the Castle. Later on there were refreshments at The Scots Guards Association Club at Haymarket, Edinburgh. The Gravestone has now left for Brookwood Cemetery near Pirbright in Surrey, to be mounted on his grave. The ceremony at Brookwood will be at 1100 on Friday the 27th of April, and will be on Western Avenue off Cemetery Pales Rd on the North Side of Brookwood cemetery. It is about 400 yds from Brookwood train station. Anyone who can be there is most welcome. (There will be tea and Biscuits after at the Pirbright Garrison Church in Brookwood camp) The service will be about 20 minutes.
» Final of Piping Competition, 10 May Published 04/25/2007 The final of the piping competition will be on Sunday, 20 May, at 4pm. The finalists are Gordon Walker and Stuart Liddell, two pipers of the highest order. Tickets are £10.00 with a meal served after the event in the Club. For further information contact Jimmy Banks.

» The Scots Guards Association Pipes & Drums (Scotland Branch)

The Scots Guards Association Pipes & Drums (Scotland Branch) was formed in 2004, with the aim of serving the best interests of the Regiment of Scotland by performing at Regimental functions when required, and maintaining the Regiment's high standards. The players are mainly former members of the Regiment, with guest players from all walks of life.

Jimmy Banks reports that he has just managed to book Alasdair Gillies, from the Carnegie Mellon Uni in USA, He is a former Queens Own Highlander and one of the worlds best pipers. He will do a recital on Sunday 5th August 4pm.
